Keeping you company

The Trust has set up a 'Zoom' account and for hosting a weekly online 'Coldstone catch up' or weekly virtual activity for anyone who would like to have a blether. A weblink is sent out each week so, if you are missing out, get in touch with the Trust and ask to be included.

Local food suppliers / home deliveries

There are some excellent local businesses offering home delivery and here are the latest details:

Offering home delivery of fruit and veg, cold meats, cheeses, some dry goods and deli products. Payment can be made by card over the phone. Local resident, Kathleen, has kindly offered to drop off for folk in and around Coldstone.
  • The Highland Bakehouse, Crathie - delivers bread to the local area. You can now order online by clicking here
  • H.M. Sheridan - Ballater butchers, Tel. 013397 55218, will deliver anywhere in Upper Deeside and surrounds, and will also be willing to pick up (for any one self-isolating) bread, milk, eggs etc click here for their website

  • Krafty Neuk - in Tarland can deliver craft supplies to people in the village. Invaluable to stave off social isolation boredom. Isla can take payments over the phone.   • Courie Courie on the outskirts of Ballater are now doing takeaways. Freshly baked sourdough filled rolls, hot tomato soup, freshly baked scones, sourdough loaves and coffee. Please phone 01339 756386 to place an order

Marr Area Partnership updates

Local resident, Emma, and colleagues at the Marr Area Partnership have been providing helpful updates and here are some highlights from the last few days:

  • 13/05/2020 - The Assistance Hub has made a short 'thank you' montage video for everyone in our communities who has volunteered to help others throughout this pandemic. So many people are grateful for the work of their volunteers. CLICK HERE to have a look
  • 13/05/2020 - Aberdeenshire Carer Support Service supports those in an unpaid caring role, who are eligible under the recent guidance from the Scottish Government, to access Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). A letter was sent to all carers registered with their service on Monday the 4th May explaining the process and how to access PPE. The letter can also be found by clicking HERE.
  • 13/05/2020 - You can apply be tested for Covid-19 if you have symptoms and are in the following groups:
    • All essential workers including NHS and social care workers
    • People over 65
    • People who cannot work from home (for example, construction workers, shop workers, emergency plumbers and delivery drivers)
    • Anyone who lives with any of those identified above
  • 13/05/2020 - Libraries Innovation Network Aberdeenshire (LINA) is a collaboration between Robert Gordon University and Aberdeenshire Council that will support economic development. If you have an idea that you would like to grow into a business, or an existing business in the North East of Scotland and are looking for space and support, LINA can help with their Online Business Toolkit Workshop which can be done in your own time. It is delivered over 6 weeks. The workshops are fully funded and free but spaces are limited. To find out more or to sign up CLICK HERE
  • 13/05/2020 - Police Scotland are seeking views on its approach to policing during the Coronavirus outbreak and would welcome responses from partners and communities. Click here to complete the survey
  • 13/05/2020 - Scarf have launched a new hardship fund to help north-east households struggling to heat their homes during the coronavirus lockdown. Call Home Energy Scotland at Scarf on 0808 808 2282 for more information on how to access Scarf’s fund as well as other grants and schemes
  • 13/05/2020 - This year's Wellbeing Festival has been moved online. There is a great range of activities for the whole family. The full list can be viewed by clicking HERE
  • 25/03/20 - NHS Grampian and Aberdeenshire Council and their COVID-19 webpages are a great source of up to date information.
  • 24/03/20 - Home schooling has commenced but help is on hand from the Cromar Future Group. They have an online session every Monday term time from 6.30 to 8pm. The Future Group is a small Charity based in the North East of Scotland. They aim to make science and technology activities available locally. If you would like more details please go to their facebook page @cromarfuturegroup.
  • We would like to bring to your attention the selection of mental health apps that the NHS recommends. Click here for information.
  • 23/03/20 - A reminder that the libraries have a digital service for books, audio books, newspapers and magazines. These can be accessed via the libraries website
  • There is now a temporarily reduced bus service to operate from Monday 23rd March. These measures reflect reduced travel and keeping key workers connected in communities. Changes follow new government advice on social contact and non-essential travel. Full details of new timetables available on their website. The majority of bus services in Aberdeenshire and Moray will operate to a Sunday timetable with additional journeys in the mornings to allow those continuing to commute by bus to work can do so seven days a week. The reduction in service follows extensive action by bus operators to enhance cleaning regimes and protect the safety and well-being of customers and employees. A reduced timetable will operate across the region until further notice. The timetables have been carefully created to ensure that critical routes are maintained wherever possible.
  • The A2B dial-a-bus services, operated using Council minibuses, are now being suspended effective from Tuesday the 24th of March
  • There is a message for carers and parents from the Director of Education and Childrens Services available at their website
  • Tarland Garage is closing due to the family having to self isolate. They are very sorry for any inconvenience and hope to be back as soon as possible.
  • Aberdeenshire Council's Webpage has guides to services during the crisis
  • The Grampian Assistance Hub - is a website and phoneline for people across Grampian that provides information on how to access social, practical and emotional support on Coronavirus (COVID-19). It gives the latest advice from a range of partners including local authorities, Police, Health, Red Cross, volunteers and community information
